World Record

I can't believe that Jordan and I drove across the country (well really half-way) just 3 weeks ago. We headed west on I-20 not knowing what seminary would be like or how long we would be living on our savings account. We have already met some amazing new friends and have learned a lot about life in the Big-D Who knew that I-35 East runs north and south? Go figure!

One of the most exciting things is that I found a job in world record time! In reality, I didn't find it, but rather my new friend Macy English. Macy's mom called her last Tuesday about an opening at First Baptist Church - Dallas (aka First Dallas). By Wednesday I had an interview and on Friday a job offer as an administrative assistant for the Minister of Singles and the Minister of Young Marrieds. Tomorrow I will start my new job and I'm very excited to see what God has in store for me and these ministries at First Dallas!

More to come on seminary life and living in 781 square feet....

My Best Friend's Wedding

Growing up the Rogers' house was always full of extras.... cousins, friends, foreign exchange students, mom's many God-children, and half the youth group. My sister and brothers, the "popular children", always had a house of friends. Even today, their friend count on Facebook is way more than mine (Beck=1058, Steven=1361, Matt=942, me=666). However, they don't have a "Beth"!

Beth and I met in smocked dresses in second grade Sunday school class at Warren Baptist Church. We've been through everything together - awful permed hair, glasses, G.A. trips to the nursing home (you Southern Baptist readers can relate to this one), Camp Hope, I Kissed Dating Goodbye, handbell choir, progressive dinners, youth trips, Europe, and much much more. I spent so much with Beth that my mom finally started calling her my "only friend". I didn't mind though because if I could only have one friend it would be Beth. She is loyal, dependable, forgiving, caring, and considerate. Plus she loves me for me!

This past Sunday I had the privilege of standing by her side as her Matron of Honor as she married her second best friend, Brian Simms (I let him think he is #1, but everyone knows it's still me)! We've been planning this day for 15 years....that's right, our first Bride's magazine was purchased in 1995 at the age of 12. And let's just say good thing Beth changed her mind on the bridesmaid's dresses! WHOA! The weekend in Asheville, NC, was wonderful..from the bridesmaid's luncheon, to Bluegrass and BBQ, the beautiful ceremony at Homewood, and the gorgeous reception at the Bohemian Hotel. It was a great time to celebrate friendship, marriage, and the beautiful life God has given us! I couldn't help but to praise Him for the gift of best friends! If you have a "Beth", you know what I mean.

Below are a few pictures from the weekend. Pictures 1, 2, and 4 were taken by my sweet friend Amber. And if anyone in the Charlotte or Augusta area is looking for a photographer, she's your lady!

The 12 Days of Kimmy

The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement with Christmas and our move to Dallas. We had so such a good time with friends and family and I especially enjoyed spending time with my Mom. I didn't plan to document my time while in Augusta but before you know it I was posting something on Facebook every day. Apparently a few people were addicted to the "12 Days of Kimmy" and were requesting posts!!! Here are a few things I love about my Mom.....

~My dad is her very best friend and their relationship is such an amazing example of a God centered marriage!
~She only lets one person boss her around - Mrs. Ella Bush from the nursing home. I love it that someone can tell her what to do!
~She sincerely loves and cares for people....and not just the nice people that are easy to like....she even cares about the unlovely!
~She knows someone everywhere she goes. I mean EVERYWHERE!!!
~She won't buy anything unless it's on sale or she has a coupon. I'm glad I got this gene.

All in all she is a Renaissance woman who loves Jesus with a passion and daily uses her gifts to bring glory to His name! I love you Mom!
