An explanation

So, you may be wondering, why in the world is Sarah's blog titled "Jealous for Me". First off, notice it is not "jealous OF me" because that would just be craziness! The blog title is actually from the song "How He Loves" which was written by John Mark McMillan after the death of a very close friend. Many artists have performed this song in the last few years but the David Crowder Band version is my favorite (be sure to purchase on iTunes)!

When people describe God they usually say words like love, forgiveness, compassion, and goodness. Rarely do you ever find someone describing the Creator as jealous. When you or I use the word jealous, we use it in the sense of being envious of someone who has something we do not have. In Exodus 20:5, it is not that God is jealous or envious because someone has something He wants or needs. Exodus 20:4-5 says, “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God...” God created Man for intimacy with himself and has always burned with pure passion for the undivided love and devotion of His people. As the Husband in the love story throughout history, the Lord has always been jealous for the affections of His bride (His people).

This songs reminds me of why God is jealous....because in the greatest love ever shown, He sent his Son to die for me.

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all

Yeah, He loves us,
Oh! how He loves us,
Oh! how He loves us,
Oh! how He loves.

We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
And Heaven meets earth like an unforseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…
